Attention Camden drivers—prepare for a week of detours and delays as roadwork begins on several key thoroughfares. The Camden County Department of Public Works has scheduled maintenance, and drivers are encouraged to plan their routes accordingly. According to a Camden County release, Market Street in Camden will experience a lane shift tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. between Haddon Avenue and North 8th Street.
Simultaneously, PSE&G is undertaking projects that include a partial eastbound road closure on Church Road in Merchantville from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow. Additionally, southbound traffic will be affected by a partial road closure on Mt. Ephraim Avenue in Camden from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday. The work will span between Lowell and Sheridan Streets, potentially disrupting weekday commutes.
For those who travel along Mt. Ephraim and Ferry Avenues in Camden, be aware that a full road closure is scheduled from tomorrow through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., affecting the stretch between Salem and South 11th Streets. New Jersey American Water will also be conducting work this week, resulting in a full road closure on Haddon Avenue in Haddonfield and Haddon Township, impacting the route from Kings Highway East to West Crystal Lake Avenue.
Commissioner Al Dyer, liaison to the Department of Public Works, urges caution, "Motorists should plan ahead to take alternate routes and give themselves plenty of time to get to their destinations," he continued, "Also, remember that when you’re traveling through a construction area, please slow down and stay alert for crew members and debris." The department, in charge of over 1,200 miles of county roadway, 50 bridges, and several dams is always on call to ensure the safety and maintenance of these paths.
To report any concerns on county roadways, the department can be reached at (856) 566-2980 or through their website. The Camden County Department of Public Works advises motorists to follow posted signs and remain aware of road crews to ensure safety.
