The Cobb County School District, still reeling from the January 15 event where a student used a gun on herself in a school bathroom, is taking steps to prevent such events from occurring in the future. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the student was airlifted to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta in critical condition and later succumbed to her injuries.
The deployment of these canines, supplied in partnership with Global K9, marks an advancement from traditional detection methods. "Vapor Wake canines don’t just check stationary objects. They follow airborne scent trails, meaning they can detect hidden threats even as people move through crowds," as reported by The Georgia Sun. This technology has been employed in diverse venues, including universities, stadiums, and the United Nations.
The newly minted security dogs are part of an extensive safety strategy that the Cobb County School District dubs Cobb Shield.
