In celebration of National Read Across America Day, the Collierville Burch Library has extended an open invitation to the town's literature enthusiasts. The library offers a wealth of reading material and several book clubs to join. As the Town of Collierville's official website reported, the library boasts a diverse collection that includes print books, audiobooks, e-books, and DVDs to cater to various preferences.
The Collierville Community Book Club is one such group open to adults. It meets monthly in the Halle Room on the fourth Tuesday of each month to share and discuss a good story. The club spans a range of genres and aims to introduce members to different styles and authors. According to the Collierville official site, Brooke Luna, the Adult Services Programming Coordinator, carefully selects the books, though attendees must remember to register in advance.
Younger readers are not to be left out, with the On the Same Page Book Club catering to children in the 4th and 5th grades. Held in the Storytelling Room on the third Thursday of each month, this club requires participants to register quickly before they can delve into the pages of their next adventure together.
For teens who enjoy variety, the Genre Jumpers Book Club meets on the fourth Thursday of every month and prides itself on not requiring prior registration. Each session dives into different literary waters, allowing adolescents to explore and discuss many narratives. Additionally, the All About Anime group, a mix of viewership and discussion, is targeted towards ages 12-16 and usually meets twice a month, per the official calendar.
Participants come together to watch an anime film, dissect its themes, and compare it to its manga origins, weaving a dialogue between screen and script.
