A violent altercation at a Wing Stop restaurant in Columbus has resulted in a serious assault charge for Stefannie Cook, age 36. During the incident, which occurred last Friday evening, Cook allegedly struck a restaurant employee with her car following a dispute. The impact pinned the victim against the restaurant's back wall, inflicting lower leg injuries. Authorities divulged that Cook was apprehended at her residence and is now facing the legal repercussions of her actions.
According to NBC4i, the Columbus Police Department received a distress call from the Wing Stop at 3773 South High Street at approximately 6:48 p.m. The first responders discovered the injured party and promptly transported her to a nearby hospital for treatment. With the victim in stable condition, Columbus felonious assault detectives took charge of the investigation, following up with an interview at the hospital.
As the situation escalated behind the Wing Stop establishment, the victim attempted to evade further confrontation by retreating to the back of the restaurant. "The woman said she went to the back of the restaurant to get away from Cook, but that Cook then followed her and began hitting her," as reported by NBC4i. The conflict then spilled over into the parking area, where Cook entered her vehicle and proceeded to charge at the victim.
After the physical altercation, which witnesses assert involved an exchange of punches between the two women, Cook reportedly initiated her assault with a Honda CR-V, striking the fleeing victim from behind. The assault ended with the victim becoming trapped between the restaurant's wall and the car, resulting in "significant" structural damage, detailed by FOX28. In the aftermath, Cook was taken from her home to the Franklin County Jail, where she remains detained, pending a court appearance scheduled for today.
