In a significant crackdown on human trafficking, the Lake County Sheriff's Office, alongside Homeland Security and several Central Florida law enforcement agencies, executed 'Operation Forced Labor,' resulting in 29 arrests. Authorities targeted prostitution and drug-related offenses, leading to the rescue of four victims of human trafficking, according to a report from WFTV. The operation spanned three days and was held at an undisclosed central Lake County location.

The undertaking involved undercover detectives who utilized prostitution websites to engage with those looking for illicit services. Of the 33 individuals who traveled intending to commit crimes, 29 were apprehended, as stated by the Lake County Sheriff's Office. The Florida Sheriff’s Association Anti-Human Trafficking Committee and the Emergency Assistance & Care fund provided resources to assist the recovered victims with food, clothing, temporary lodging, and transportation, as reported by ClickOrlando.

The victims, identified during the operation, were not charged. Instead, they received support and safe relocation courtesy of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office with Homeland Security's help. “This was a collaborative effort. Our detectives and other law enforcement partners worked very hard together to identify and rescue these victims of human trafficking and connect them to valuable resources that are available to assist them,” Sheriff Peyton Grinnell was quoted in releases from ClickOrlando. "We want these victims to know there is a way out."

One of those arrested was involved in trafficking a victim, showing the seriousness of the trafficking network in central Florida. Detectives are working to arrest more suspects connected to the other victims. The arrested individuals face charges like prostitution, drug possession, and human trafficking. More arrests are expected as the investigation continues.
