Parents in Croydon are facing charges of child neglect after their premature newborn twins were discovered in a severely malnourished state. Courtney Soyka, 32, and Marcus Maddela, 45, were charged with felony child endangerment and conspiracy, as reported by a Bucks County announcement.
The investigation into the couple's conduct commenced after the Bristol Township police received a tip from Bucks County Children and Youth in December 2024. The twins had been born on October 7 at 32 weeks and required specialized care in the NICU before being sent home with their parents. Born dangerously premature, their fragile bodies demanded diligence, a compassion that the couple, as the charges suggest, did not uphold.
After missing four crucial medical appointments, the infants were taken back to the hospital on December 11, appearing underweight for their age. The county's response was swift, and the parents' apparent neglect led to serious legal repercussions, including a bail set at $500,000, 10 percent of which must be posted for release, as Magisterial District Judge Terrance Hughes outlined.
