Dallas residents woke up this morning to a blanket of fog. According to the National Weather Service, the haze is expected to lift before the 10 a.m. mark, giving way to cloud cover which will then gradually clear, setting the stage for a balmy day with highs creeping near the mid-70s. A shift in wind direction, from south to northwest, will usher in gusts that might hit 30 mph in the afternoon.
But the temperate weather isn't expected to last; tonight's forecast predicts a steep drop in temperature that could plunge to a low of around 29 degrees, while persistent north-northwest winds will maintain their intensity, gusting up to 30 mph. Residents looking forward to the weekend should brace themselves for a chilly Sunday with a high barely reaching 47 and wind chills in the early hours feeling like they're somewhere between 18 to 28 degrees. Although the wind is expected to decrease slightly, it could still gust as high as 25 mph.
The outlook for Washington's Birthday seems a bit more favorable with a pleasant return to sunny skies and warmer temperatures hovering near 56 degrees, while winds shift to a more gentle south-southeast breeze at 5 to 10 mph. However, as night descends, the clouds are set to gather once more, leading into a Monday night that could see temperatures around 45 degrees.
Looking ahead to Tuesday, forecasts indicate a 60% chance of showers mainly post-noon, and it seems the day will be fraught with fluctuations in temperature and wind, starting with a southeast breeze that shifts north and increases to 15 to 20 mph, potentially gusting up to 30 mph, then Tuesday night could present a slight chance of rain or freezing rain before midnight; the clouds linger, and the low is a biting 17 degrees with northerly winds that remain strong and gusty, the National Weather Service warns.
As the week unfolds, the Dallas area will experience partly sunny conditions midweek with Wednesday's high around 32 degrees amidst north winds, while the lows on Wednesday night could plummet to around 14 degrees, looking ahead the remaining days carry a chill with Thursday and Friday offering some respite from the cold. Sunny skies will elevate the high to 36 on Thursday and up to 42 by Friday, with nights remaining cold but gradually less severe.
