For National Employee Appreciation Day, the City of Dallas is stepping up its recognition game with a full-blown art show, not just a pat on the back. The Office of Arts and Culture is bringing back the biennial Illuminating Dallas Employee Art Show (IDEAS), and everyone's invited to see what city employees can do beyond their 9-to-5.
From March 3 through the end of May, City Hall will transform into an art gallery. Displaying selected pieces from the city's workers, the exhibit is a testament to the oft-hidden talents of those who keep Dallas running. With the artwork peppered throughout various nooks and crannies of the City Hall, the curious public and city officials can explore the exhibit, which was reportedly announced yesterday.
But the real kicker is the Opening Reception on March 7. According to a bulletin from the City of Dallas, the event will be held from noon – 1 p.m. at 1500 Marilla Street, and, yes, it's free. With refreshments on hand and an art tour, it's an hour that promises to be as enlightening as appreciative.
