Yesterday, a Bank of America ATM in Seattle was the target of a bold heist, as reported by SPD Blotter. According to the police log, at approximately 3:20 a.m., two suspects attempted to pry their way into a drive-up ATM using sophisticated hydraulic tools. Despite the early hour, officers were dispatched promptly after the alarm was triggered at the bank.
Upon arrival, law enforcement found the area abandoned by the would-be thieves, yet a large box truck – associated with the attempted theft – was left behind, later verified as stolen from the University of Washington's jurisdiction. The discovery of the truck didn't lead to an immediate breakthrough, as the suspects had already taken flight by the time officers secured the scene, thwarting efforts for a swift capture, King County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit was brought in to assist but their efforts too, came up empty-handed, unable to track the fugitives despite a systematic search.
Diligence by local police led to a thorough processing of the crime scene; however, details on any potential leads or evidence recovered have not been made public at this time. The incident left the ATM damaged but, according to official reports, it seems that the suspects were interrupted before they could access the machine's cash reserves.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities are piecing together surveillance footage and witness accounts in hopes of identifying those responsible for the attempted theft, anyone with information pertaining to the incident or the identity of the suspects is encouraged to come forward and contact the Seattle Police Department.
