The National Weather Service in Melbourne issued a Dense Fog Advisory, effective through 9 AM, covering all of east central Florida and the nearshore Atlantic waters, as reported by their recent Area Forecast Discussion.
The weather service advises drivers to take it slow, use low-beam headlights, and leave plenty of distance between vehicles. They've also suggested that, if possible, individuals should delay travel plans until later in the morning when the fog is expected to lift. Following the dissipation of the mist, mostly dry conditions are anticipated throughout the week, with temperatures hanging above normal for this time of year. According to the discussion, the warmest temperatures are forecast to primarily be focused across the Treasure Coast, Okeechobee, and southern Osceola counties.
Nighttime isn't looking too clear either, as similar conditions conducive to fog are set to roll in tonight into early Tuesday morning. While the moisture from a decaying boundary is helping with the fog, it's also preventing the rain, keeping chances pinned below 20 percent. Such meager prospects for precipitation are projected to stay consistent throughout the week, as the main story remains the fog's morning cameos and the unseasonably high temperatures.
Despite an overall favorable outlook for the week, boaters aren't out of the woods yet. The Dense Fog Advisory continues at least 10 AM this morning on the nearshore waters. Mariners ought to remain vigilant as the fog is potentially expected to develop again late tonight into Tuesday morning. From the coast to the airport, the aviation sector felt the impact of IFR/LIFR CIGs/VSBYs prevailing for many TAF sites this morning. Again, another round of low stratus/dense fog is expected overnight into Tue morning as this persistent pattern continues.
Regardless of the opaque start to the day, Orlando and neighboring counties are set to experience mostly dry and warm conditions for the coming week. High temperatures are consistently forecasted in the 70s to mid-80s range, with overnight lows comfortably seated in the upper 50s to low 60s. While this warm spell might be a boon for some, it's worth noting those foggy mornings are a signal to take extra care during early commutes and have that fog routine down pat.
