Early this morning at The Adeline Apartments in Maitland, a fire sparked by a malfunctioning gym treadmill prompted an evacuation of the residents. The blaze began before the stroke of 6 a.m. at the residential complex situated at 304 Lake Ave., leading to a concerted response from multiple fire departments, FOX 35 Orlando reported.
The Maitland Fire Rescue Department (MFRD), which was first at the scene, was joined by the Winter Park Fire-Rescue Department (WPFRD) and the Seminole County Fire Department (SCFD) in an effort to contain the fire and ensure safety. It is a testament to the swift work of these teams that no injuries were reported, and no permanent displacements occurred as a result of the incident. The apartments were ventilated using fans to clear the smoke that had filled the complex, as detailed in a statement by WESH.
Residents, who had been stirred from their homes by the smell and haze of smoke, watched as firefighters skillfully managed the situation. The fire was quickly brought under control and the affected area secured, with firefighters meticulously checking the premises to prevent any potential flare-ups. The coordinated efforts of the MFRD, WPFRD, and SCFD were paramount in ensuring that the residents could return to their homes without facing further risks.
