A Detroit man has been formally charged with two counts of first-degree murder following a Valentine's Day shooting that left two dead. Keith Alan Arrington Jr., 30, is also charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and three counts of felony firearm, per reports from WWJ Newsradio. The incident, which occurred last Friday, unfolded in a basement on the west side of Detroit near Fenkell Avenue and Coyle Street.
The victims, Lattriece Galloway, 21, and Edward Clark, 40, were both found with fatal gunshot wounds; Galloway in the neck and Clark in the chest. The police discovered the bodies after being called to the scene. As per ClickOnDetroit, authorities allege the shooting was a result of an argument, during which Arrington is believed to have used a shotgun.
Arrington, whose arraignment occurred on Monday, faces a plethora of serious charges that collectively could result in a life sentence if convicted. According to reports from CBS Detroit, the local prosecutor's office said that "the defendant and the victims knew each other," pointing to a potentially personal element in the case, as cited by CBS News Detroit.
With these charges, Arrington's legal journey is just beginning. He was denied bond and remains in jail, with a probable cause conference to be held on February 25 and a preliminary examination scheduled for March 4.
