Detroit police are investigating a case of animal cruelty after a woman stabbed her pit bull mix while live-streaming the incident on Facebook. A tip from a community member led authorities to the scene, where they found three dogs and four cats in poor condition, with one cat also injured. The animals were taken into care, according to both ClickOnDetroit and FOX 2 Detroit.
Detroit Animal Care and Control responded to a tip about an attack shared on Facebook and found malnourished animals at a residence off Manning on Detroit's east side. One of the dogs, a recently adopted pit bull, is now recovering with a medical foster family. Chantal Rzewnicki of Karens Dog Rescue told FOX 2 Detroit, "It's heart-wrenching, there's no words to describe what that was to physically see that." Authorities are working to find the dog a permanent home, and the community is encouraged to report any signs of animal abuse.
Animal rescuer Dianne Reeves told WXYZ, "We see abuse all the time, but this extreme. It's really bad. Dogs feel emotions. Sadness. Also, pain." Authorities continue to investigate the case, urging residents to remain vigilant and report signs of animal cruelty.
