Detroit is gearing up for another electrifying Memorial Day weekend as the Movement Music Festival confirms its full 2025 lineup. The iconic event, a stalwart of the electronic music scene, will be graced by over 115 artists, including a mix of Detroit legends and exciting new talent. Revelers can expect beats to start pumping through Hart Plaza on May 24-26, as noted by WXYZ.
Joining the previously announced crowd-pullers like Carl Cox and John Summit is Belgian Techno sensation Charlotte de Witte, who is set to take the main stage by storm. "I'm beyond excited to return to the main stage of Detroit Movement festival," de Witte conveyed in a statement obtained by the Detroit Free Press. "The city and its music have inspired me so much throughout my life and career. I can't wait to share some unforgettable moments with you all on the dance floor." Also adding to the lineup are local stalwarts Carl Craig and Moodymann, who will be delivering a back-to-back set featuring Underground Resistance co-founder Mike Banks.
Hart Plaza is to buzz with a variety of acts, including Harlem-born rapper and A$AP Mob member FERG, Zack Fox – known for his role in the hit TV show "Abbott Elementary" and as a DJ – and rising Detroit ghettotech trio HiTech, among others. The festival will not just be flexing its musical muscles but also supporting the growth of the scene with local showcases such as Craig's Detroit Love and the Underground Music Academy led by Waajeed, as reported by Metro Times.
And it isn't just about the headliners; from first-timers to seasoned festival-goers, attendees can expect to thoroughly explore the cutting edge of electronic music. HorsegiirL, a recent Mixmag cover star, will make her Movement debut alongside techno stalwarts like Goldie b2b Photek and Russian force Nina Kraviz. This year, Movement celebrates 25 years of techno on the riverfront since its inception as the Detroit Electronic Music Festival in 2000, before taking on its current moniker when Paxahau took over in 2006, according to the Detroit Free Press.
Festival-goers eager to join the Movement can snag 3-Day or 1-Day Passes, which are available now with Payment Plan options, through the official website at www.movementfestival.com. It's a celebration of not only electronic music's past but also its future, with Paxahau continuing to boldly push forward independently, producing such marquee events as AfroFuture and the Detroit Jazz Festival, as per a report by Metro Times.
