Residents of Plymouth and the greater community are invited to mark their calendars for a special event, Discover Plymouth, featuring an array of local businesses, community organizations, and recreational activities as well as the anticipated State of the City address by Mayor Jeff Wosje. All set for Saturday, March 22 inside the expansive dome of the Plymouth Community Center Fieldhouse at 14800 34th Ave. N., the free event kicks off at 9 a.m. and wraps up at 1 p.m., offering a perfect Saturday outing for families and individuals alike, reported the City of Plymouth website.
Discover Plymouth is shaping up to be a veritable showcase of what the city has to offer, from discussing city services with local officials to previewing upcoming recreation programs, and even exploring a range of large vehicles that kids and adults alike can get an up-close look at in a touch-a-truck exhibit. A special addition to this year's event is a section exclusively designed for young entrepreneurs under the age of 18, providing them with a unique platform to display their products and services, according to the official announcement.
As part of Discover Plymouth, local vendors and artists will also showcase their homemade and handmade items in an indoor marketplace, adding a local shopping experience to the day's festivities. Application forms for those wishing to secure a vendor booth at the event are available online, with a deadline of 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5. Anyone interested in participating can find more details and download the necessary documentation at the city’s dedicated event page.
Alongside the bustling marketplace and children's activities, Plymouth's mayor, Jeff Wosje, is set to deliver the annual State of the City address at 10 a.m.; this central part of the day will include discussions on a variety of topics like city finances and public safety and infrastructure, plus a look back at completed projects over the past year—a comprehensive summary of Plymouth's progress and goals. Following the address, residents will have the opportunity for a direct face-to-face with public officials during a question-and-answer session hosted by Dave Kiser of CCX Media, as detailed in the city's statement.
