On Monday, a crash on I-96 in Novi involved two semi trucks, leaving one driver seriously injured. The accident occurred around 7:35 a.m. when a semi truck rear-ended a gravel hauler slowing down due to heavy traffic near the Beck Road exit, causing major disruption to the morning commute, as mentioned by FOX 2 Detroit.
Michigan State Police confirmed that the gravel hauler driver was not injured, while the semi driver sustained serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The gravel hauler had activated its hazard lights before being struck, but the distance between the two vehicles was insufficient, leading to the collision, according to ClickOnDetroit.
MSP First Lt. Mike Shaw reminded drivers that "Rear end crashes are totally preventable. Drivers should always leave enough room to react to sudden stops, emergencies or changes in road conditions," as stated by Audacy. A recent crash caused major traffic delays as lanes were closed for emergency services. The lanes reopened around 11:30 a.m. after the area was cleared, as reported by FOX 2 Detroit.
