At the heart of the presentation was Lieutenant Oscar Torres, who addressed the community's concerns running the gamut from speeding offenses to parking violations. He shared strategies designed to vigorously combat these issues, including the deployment of License Plate Readers and speed deterrence devices, as well as an increase in patrol units during peak traffic. This, he assured, was a testament to Sheriff Oscar Ugarte's dedication to public safety, as per the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. The lieutenant also placed a marked emphasis on the role of community partnerships and the application of community policing principles.
Property crime prevention was also a key agenda item, with Sergeants Salvador Vergara and Rodolfo Avalos dispensing practical advice. They underscored the importance of documenting serial numbers for electronics, taking photos of cars along with their license plates, and the deployment of surveillance devices to aid criminal investigations. He elaborated on its importance in thwarting vehicle thefts and proceeded to distribute vehicle locking devices that promise to amply secure residents' cars.
