The sidewalks of Englewood's Southwest Greenbelt Trail are set for an upgrade, with the local Parks Department launching a project to swap out the old asphalt for a fresh 6-foot concrete pathway. Starting March 1, these improvements aim to ramp up accessibility, nix common trip hazards, and amp up drainage, which should put a damper on the usual winter ice pitfalls, as reported by the Englewood Parks Department.
Residents should brace for about a month of construction buzz, but the Parks Department plans to slice the work into digestible phases to keep the mayhem to a minimum, they'll kick things off from South Huron to S Fox St, then march the concrete mixers down from S Fox St to S Delaware St, and finally, pave the stretch to S Cherokee St., according to Englewood Parks Department.
The officials are asking for a dash of patience and cooperation as the crews work to stitch up the trail into a better shape for the community. The intent is to fashion a park experience that everyone can revel in free from the worry of an unexpected trip or a slippery patch.
Englewood's denizens might have to jostle a bit with the disruption as their daily trots or casual meanderings on the trail are bound to hit some snags; still, given that the upgrades should make for a smoother, safer stroll or cycle, it seems like a small price to pay, as obtained by Englewood Parks Department.
