In a recent turn of events, Robert William Lindsay II, an ex-employee of Fraser High School in Macomb County, has been handed a reduced prison term after filing a motion against his initial sentencing for sexual misconduct involving a student. ClickOnDetroit reported that Lindsay, who was working through EduStaff, faced allegations concerning a 2023 relationship with a 15-year-old girl, leading to his charges of five counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Last month, Judge Julie Gatti of the Macomb County Circuit Court reevaluated Lindsay's initial sentence, adjusting it from 8-50 years to 6-50 years for the first-degree charges and maintaining the 8-15 years for the second-degree charges. This was despite the opposition from the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office, which, as originally stated by the Macomb Government website, has expressed dissent over the judge's decision to decrease the sentence handed down to Lindsay in his criminal sexual conduct case.
During the legal proceedings, it became known that Lindsay had not only engaged in an illegal affair with a minor but had gone so far as to propose marriage to the student. According to the court, Lindsay resigned from his position before his arrest and later put forth a plea of no contest, akin to a guilty plea.
The new sentence implies that Lindsay would spend at least six years behind bars. However, the cap remains at fifty years. Upon release, he will be subject to lifetime electronic monitoring and barred from contacting the victim.
