Falcon Field Airport is stepping up its game when it comes to safety and community relations. They're rolling out a new Airfield Driver Training Program specifically tailored to reduce the chances of runway and taxiway incursions by ensuring all authorized personnel are well-versed in the necessary protocols for the Air Operations Area (AOA). In a statement made by the City of Mesa, Airport Director Corinne Nystrom highlighted the initiative as a reflection of the airport's "dedication to continuous improvement and our responsibility to the community we serve."

Designed to not only increase airfield vehicle driver safety but also minimize noise for residents, the program includes a 5-minute training video that echoes the Fly Friendly voluntary noise abatement initiative. This integration speaks to a broader attempt to foster harmony between the airport's operations and the daily lives of its neighboring citizens. "Its a vital step in preserving Falcon Field Airports reputation for excellence and safety, while reinforcing our dedication to the operational integrity of the airfield," Mark Gibbs, the Airport Projects and Operations Manager, told the City of Mesa.

Launching this month, the training will initially be directed at Airport employees, although the requirements apply to all badge holders, current and future. Approximately 2,000 people, encompassing tenants, contractors, and sub-tenants, are expected to undergo the training, according to the City of Mesa.
