Mark Parker, a 51-year-old man from Ferndale, has been arraigned on charges of felony nonsupport for failing to fulfill his spousal support obligations, leading to over $33,000 in arrearages. Despite a court order issued on October 17, 2022, by Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Matthew Switalski, Parker neglected to make the required payments to his former wife, prompting legal action by the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office.
Following Parker's arraignment on Tuesday, Magistrate Ryan Zemke of the 41B District Court in Clinton Township set the bond at $8,472. The case is expected to proceed with a Probable Cause Hearing scheduled for March 4. Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido of the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office conveyed a clear message: "This defendant has repeatedly failed to meet his legal and financial obligations, showing blatant disregard for the court's orders and the well-being of his former spouse. Our office takes these matters seriously, and we will pursue accountability to ensure justice is served."
The circumstances of the case reflect the broader commitment of the Macomb County Prosecutor's Family Division to address cases of felony nonsupport actively. This division oversees instances where arrears exceed $5,000 and payments have halted for three consecutive months, provided evidence indicates the defaulter is financially capable of payment. The division's primary goal is to secure the necessary support for the affected parties while maintaining the integrity of the justice system.
