Fire crews from the Prescott National Forest and the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management were dispatched to the Brady Fire, which erupted south of Mayer, Arizona near Pine Flats off of Forest Road 67 at approximately 3:00 P.M. yesterday. According to the Arizona Official website, the wildfire, feeding on brush and grass, has rapidly expanded to 400 acres with smoke visible from Prescott, Chino Valley, Prescott Valley, and Crown King.

The firefighting team, consisting of the Prescott Hot Shots, several engines, and a Type 2 crew, has engaged in a full suppression strategy to contain the Brady Fire and air support has been called in to assist the ground efforts as firefighters are braving the challenging conditions, the authority said that an incoming storm system might bring gusty southwest winds over the next days which could impact efforts on containment and although there's a chance for increased moisture by midweek, snow showers on Wednesday are expected to have minimal or no accumulation.

In light of ongoing operations and as the investigation into the cause of the Brady Fire continues, officials have released a statement, "For the health and safety of firefighters and residents affected, we ask that you please avoid the area around the Brady Fire." Residents seeking evacuation information or needing assistance should contact the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office at 928-771-3260 or dial 911 for immediate aid, as per the Arizona Official website.
