A former Pueblo County Sheriff’s detention deputy has found himself on the other side of the law after being sentenced to a probationary period following an incident involving inappropriate contact with a female inmate. The erstwhile deputy, Kiki Seto, age 26, accepted his fate with a guilty plea to the charge of sexual conduct in a correctional institution, a Class 5 felony.
The incident, which unfolded in 2024, led to Seto's termination from his position after the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation. According to Pueblo County Sheriff's Office, detectives took the reins on the case, paving the way for Seto's arrest in March 2024. He had been out on bail before his sentencing, an arrangement now replaced by a four-year probationary sentence and a lifelong label as a registered sexual offender.
In a gesture towards justice, though some may weigh the measure of its sufficiency, Seto's legal counsel presumably navigated the complexities of the criminal justice system to land on the shores of this probationary sentence. With Seto's admission of guilt established in court, it allowed the legal proceedings to resolve, albeit one which some may argue leans on the side of leniency for a figure once entrusted with the oversight of individuals at their most vulnerable.
