The City of Fort Worth has chosen Fairhaven as the focus of its 2025 Neighborhood Improvement Program (NIP), an initiative to uplift historically underserved communities. During a City Council work session yesterday, Neighborhood Services Director Kacey Bess announced the three-year timeline for the project. According to the City of Fort Worth, it will start in October 2025 and be completed in September 2027.

The NIP operates through collaborative efforts between the Neighborhood Services Department and other city agencies to seamlessly deliver improvements such as police safety measures, better waste management, and enhancement of local infrastructure.

The program has previously benefited neighborhoods like Seminary, Worth Heights, and Historic Marine. Since 2017, it has made notable strides in several Fort Worth communities. Fairhaven's selection came after extensive review and is part of continuing efforts to foster a sense of pride, safety, and a better quality of life for the residents of these target areas.

At its core, NIP is community-driven and relies heavily on feedback from the residents and business owners in the target area. This local input is crucial to ensure that the capital investments and programs implemented mirror the community's highest priorities and needs. "The program is community-driven," Bess explained in a statement detailed by the City of Fort Worth. Investments range from police safety improvements to installing streetlights and enhancing parks and recreational spaces.
