Fort Worth is set to become even greener after the City Council approved the purchase of an 11.41-acre parcel of land in the northwest area for the new Paloma Park. According to the City of Fort Worth, the land acquisition, finalized yesterday, cost the city $2.99 million and includes a generous in-kind donation from Hayco Realty Ltd. The donated land, measuring 3.8 acres, is valued at approximately $1.5 million.

The gently rolling, lightly forested landscape at 5610 Ten Mile Bridge marks a significant addition to Fort Worth's park system. This area has been notably parched for neighborhood-based parkland. The Park & Recreation Department (PARD) is tasked with transforming this land, adhering to the Neighborhood and Community Park Dedication Policy and the Park, Recreation, and Open Space Master Plan. This plan sets forth a vision for delivering adequate park and recreation areas, focused on enhancing the community through neighborhood-based and community-based parks.

PARD has investigated various potential properties for expanding parks in northwest Fort Worth. Its investigations have pinpointed this newly purchased property, which sits within Council District 2 in Park Planning District 2, as a prime location. This area was previously identified as underserved in outdoor public spaces, a situation that this new park aims to remedy.
