Earlier today, a house fire in downtown Houston resulted in four injuries requiring hospitalization. The Houston Fire Department (HFD) arrived at the scene on 5705 Texas Street following a 9 a.m. alert to tackle the blaze, as reported by Click2Houston.
Among the victims, a man was taken to the hospital in serious condition the Houston Fire Department revealed that three others, two women and a child, were also hospitalized but in good condition, however the family has been shaken by the tragedy particularly after a niece of the injured man disclosed their deep roots in the home, spanning over three decades, which she shared in a statement obtained by KHOU.
The fire departments' prompt response was essential as crews were notified on their way to the scene that someone was trapped inside, leading to the rescue of the man, who is now hospitalized. The fire has been extinguished, but the cause remains under investigation by HFD arson investigators.
As temperatures drop, HFD officials are advising the public to exercise caution when using heating devices. The onset of colder weather is often associated with an increase in heater-related fires. This guidance follows a recent household incident, as noted by officials in their public statements.
