A Gallia County phone repairman's breach of trust has led to a guilty plea on felony charges after he was caught downloading and stashing customers' nude photos, some of which involved minors, as reported by the Ohio Attorney General's office. Calvin Jordan, a 27-year-old former employee of Direct Computing Solutions in Gallipolis, owned up to his actions in court with a guilty plea to a multi-count indictment, including charges concerning the exploitation of minors and unauthorized computer access.
According to a statement by Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, "Violating your customers’ privacy isn’t just creepy – it’s illegal, especially when some of your clients are minors," emphasizing the severity of the intrusion and the legal consequences it entails. Jordan is now awaiting sentencing on March 31, where he faces potential prison time and the certainty of being listed as a Tier II sex offender for his crimes, which were perpetrated against over 40 victims, both male and female and included minors aged between 14 and 17 years old.
The timeline of the misconduct spans from December 2021 to April 2022, when Jordan was employed at Direct Computing Solutions, more popularly known as DC Solutions, and had access to customers' phones for the alleged purpose of repairs; however, investigators from the Gallipolis Police Department and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation found that he took that opportunity to improperly download private photographs without the knowledge or consent of the phone owners, detailed the Attorney General's office.
The prosecution of Jordan's case is being handled by the Attorney General’s Special Prosecutions Section, with a keen eye on justice for the scores of individuals whose privacy was egregiously violated, including minors who were unjustly exposed to Jordan's criminal actions, leading to charges encompassing three counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, one count of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance, and 36 counts of unauthorized use of computer, cable, or telecommunications property.
