
In a recent celebration of local leadership and community engagement, Garland Mayor Scott LeMay was awarded the 2024 Partner for the Arts Award by the Garland Cultural Arts Commission (GCAC). The honor was presented during the 93rd Annual Meeting of the Garland Chamber of Commerce, which took place last Thursday
Recognized for his unwavering dedication to the arts in Garland, Mayor LeMay's contribution was highlighted during the event. "Mayor, what truly sets you apart is your passion," said DeAnne Driver, Chairwoman of the GCAC, as per the City of Garland, "You don’t just support the arts, you live and breathe them. Your enthusiasm is infectious, your generosity is boundless, and your vision for a thriving cultural city is inspiring." Mayor LeMay’s efforts have cemented his reputation as a staunch advocate for artistic initiatives within the city.
The ceremony also saw honors bestowed upon District 1 City Council Member Jeff Bass, who received the Leadership Garland program’s Distinguished Leader Award. Bass, who serves his constituents through the Garland City Council, has been noted for his extensive involvement in numerous community projects and programs.
In addition to his political duties, Jeff Bass’s commitment extends to multiple facets of community betterment, he has held leadership positions with local organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Garland’s Citizen’s Fire Academy, and the Garland Chamber of Commerce itself. Bass's diverse portfolio of leadership roles reflects a keen interest in fostering a robust and civic-minded community.
