
A home invasion in Goldsboro ended with the intruder being shot by the homeowner yesterday evening, according to local authorities. The Goldsboro Police Department was alerted to the incident at 5:48 p.m. by a ShotSpotter activation in the 600 block of W. Oak Street, as reported by WRAL. Upon arrival, police discovered that an individual had been shot after a reported breaking incident at a residence.
The suspect, subsequently identified as James, made his way to UNC Health Wayne, seeking medical attention for his injuries. From there, he was transferred to ECU Medical Center where he remains in critical condition. According to CBS 17, the shooting occurred as the homeowner acted in self-defense during the break-in meant to terrorize.
No injuries were reported among the residents of the home.
