Over 60 artists gathered at Next Gallery's 8th Annual Casa Bonita Art Show for a creative reimagining of the Colorado landmark's centennial in 2074. Governor Polis attended the event to take in the diverse array of artistic visions. "I love viewing the work of Colorado's artists and seeing one of our state's landmark attractions reimagined through the creativity of artists," he said, as obtained by the Colorado Governor's Office. Polis hopes that the show will inspire both residents and tourists to explore the breadth of what Colorado has to offer.
The gallery, operated by 28 artists, promotes local talent and fosters art education and appreciation through community outreach. Casa Bonita has been a staple in the region since its opening, and the collaborative project offered a window into, how the future could amass upon the site's storied past.
Governor Polis' day continued with a visit to African Grill and Bar, where he celebrated Black History Month and the culinary diversity found within Colorado. At the African Grill and Bar, the Governor enjoyed authentic African cuisine and acknowledged the restaurant's contributions to the community, including support for school cultural programs, charitable work, and local feeding initiatives.
"Colorado is home to many vibrant cultures, cuisines, and businesses. I am excited to be visiting African Grill and Bar to enjoy authentic African food, celebrate Black History Month, and highlight one of the many black-owned businesses that contribute to our growing economy, and make Colorado the best state to live, work, and start a business," Polis said, as reported by Colorado Governor's Office.
