Health and Style Institute Shuts Down Unexpectedly, Leaving Atlanta Area Students in Disarray

The abrupt closure of the Health and Style Institute, a beauty school with locations in metro Atlanta and North Carolina, has precipitated a crisis for its students and faculty. Students arrived to find campuses shuttered, inciting distress over their substantial financial investments and upended academic journeys. The institute, operational for over a decade, cited FAFSA processing issues and a lag in approval to relocate their Kennesaw campus as catalysts for the sudden shutdown, as reported by FOX5 Atlanta.

A statement obtained by Atlanta News First from a student named Jazzmyn Williams exemplifies the shock and frustration felt by many. Williams arrived for class only to be greeted by locked doors and a brief note of closure, "The doors were locked," Williams said. "There’s a ‘STOP’ sign that says ‘DO NOT ENTER.’" Her experience underscores the lack of communication that has left approximately 1,100 students in limbo.

Compounding the issues, students like Williams are now faced with the financial burden of loans taken to fund their education. Students were informed that they would be given a chance to retrieve their belongings from the institutes' facilities, the logistics of which appear to be slowly taking shape per updates on the Health and Style Institute's website. Despite the turmoil, the company has assured that employees will receive compensation for time worked and their 401(k) allocations remain intact.
