A 46-year-old Helendale man, identified as Gabriel Valencia, was arrested for domestic violence after deputies responded to a 911 call from the 27000 block of Strawberry Lane on Saturday, at 8:27 pm. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department report, the altercation involved Valencia and his live-in girlfriend, culminating in a physical assault and a death threat.
Having fled the scene prior to the arrival of deputies, Valencia returned the following morning and was taken into custody at 7:15 am on Sunday. Booked at the High Desert Detention Center, he's being held for corporal injury to a spouse along with an outstanding warrant for driving under the influence, his bail set at $100,000. Returning to the residence where the incident took place, the deputies arrested Valencia without incident, the Sheriff-Coroner Department detailed.
The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, required on-site medical attention from paramedics after the assault.
