A townhome in The Greater Heights area of Houston became the scene of a fire incident last week, with firefighters dispatched to the 1100 block of Beasley Hills Ln. around midday, Houston city officials reported.
The blaze, which broke out last Monday, was confirmed to have caused approximately $30,000 in damages, however, thanks to the prompt response of emergency crews, properties valued at about $462,600 were spared from the flames. Firefighters responded swiftly upon arrival, securing utilities and conducting a search to ensure no individuals were in danger. The controlled fire was extinguished within 20 minutes after efforts to manage the spreading flames.
No injuries were reported in connection to the incident which city authorities have pinned on equipment or heat source failure—specifically a charging station for tablets and phones, as the origin of the fire was traced back to that area, said the alert was initially raised by a smoke alarm, crucial in alerting the occupants of the danger.
A total of 41 personnel responded to the event, including members from Stations 6, 8, 9, 11, 15, 62, 31, 30, and Rescue 1. They worked to extinguish the fire, ventilate the residence to remove remaining smoke, and carry out the necessary actions to ensure public safety and minimize potential losses during the incident.
