An investigation is underway regarding a grim altercation that culminated in a fatal shooting at a Houston apartment complex on Wilcrest Drive last week. According to the Houston Police Department, the incident occurred approximately at 6:20 p.m. last Friday and is now slated for grand jury review in Harris County.
The scuffle, as stated by HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Dunn and Detective L. Brooks, left one man dead and the precipitating shooter hospitalized but expected to survive. Found unresponsive with gunshot wounds inside the apartment, the life of the 36-year-old man hung in the balance while paramedics arrived, ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene. The man's identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
As per the same report, officers originally responded to the shooting inside the apartment complex at 1251 Wilcrest Drive. They discovered a second male outside, injured in the parking lot, suffering from gunshot wounds and was consequently rushed to an area hospital. An initial probe into the scenario sketched a picture of an argument turned deadly, with both individuals allegedly pulling guns and firing at each other.
The aftermath of the incident summoned the Harris County District Attorney's Office to the scene, leading to the decision that "the case would be presented to a grand jury for review," as mentioned in the preliminary findings released by the Houston Police.
