A Jacksonville man has been arrested and is facing serious felony charges after a large haul of drugs, weapons, and cash was found in his possession. Vincent Allen Wiley, 38, was detained following a traffic stop, an operation that led to a more extensive investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies. The search of Wiley's residence by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) revealed more than four pounds of fentanyl, over one pound of cocaine, and more than three pounds of PCP, as the Action News Jax reported.
The Tri-County Narcotics Task Force, which includes members from various local law enforcement agencies, previously identified Wiley as a major suspect in the trafficking of fentanyl throughout Northeast Florida. A series of controlled purchases allowed the agents to further incriminate the suspect, leading to his arrest and the subsequent seizure of evidence. The FDLE confirmed that a total of 38 firearms, a cocaine press, and a money counting machine were also found along with the $52,000 in cash, according to Action News Jax.
The array of charges faced by Wiley speaks to the severity of the situation as authorities continue to battle the proliferation of dangerous narcotics in the region. FDLE has not just acted alone; it has been a collaborative effort involving the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, Putnam Sheriff’s Office, Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Palatka Police Department, and the St. Augustine Beach Police Department, as noted by News4Jax.
Following his arrest, Wiley was taken to the Duval County Jail with his bond set to a staggering $1.8 million.
