A violent altercation captured on video has sparked a police investigation in the Mid-Wilshire area of Los Angeles, featuring an attack by a group of teens on a man. The incident, which occurred at the intersection of San Vicente Boulevard and McCarthy Vista, took place around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. According to ABC7, the man was punched and kicked by several teenagers after exiting his vehicle to confront the group, sustaining minor injuries.
Footage of the event, which spread quickly on social media, shows the man on the ground being assaulted by the teens before they rode away on their bikes. The video has become part of the police investigation. A dispute preceded the assault, with Los Angeles police reporting that the man engaged with the group of teens following alleged vandalism. No arrests have been made as of yet, despite the clear video evidence of the attack.
Dimitri Kermani, a witness whose account of the harrowing event was made public, described the scene as "extremely violent," with attackers showing no sympathy for their victim. "They were kicking him in the head, they were kicking him in the body," Kermani recounted in an interview given to KCAL News. "They had absolutely no sympathy whatsoever for this victim and it was completely unprovoked."
Another witness, Tyler Johnson, reported to KTLA that the man stepped out of his car to confront the large group of bicyclists who were apparently blocking the street. One of the teens was seen on top of the man's car, kicking at the windshield prior to the beating.
The Los Angeles Police Department took a report for battery and vandalism following the incident. The investigation remains ongoing as officials seek to identify the individuals involved in this and potentially related events.
