The City of Lynnwood recently shared that Police Chief Cole Langdon has taken on additional responsibilities beyond his municipal leadership. He has been appointed as Chief-At-Large on the Board of the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs (WASPC), adding another layer of involvement in state law enforcement policymaking and practices. Langdon's tenure as Lynnwood's Police Chief began in July of 2023, and since then, he has delivered notable contributions to the community's safety and administrative operations.
Having served with the Lynnwood Police Department for a significant period, Chief Langdon brings a wealth of experience to the WASPC Board. His background spans several specialized policing areas, including K-9 handling and traffic collisions, as well as extensive work with the Community Health and Safety Section. During his career, he has also been a part of the North Sound Metro SWAT team, indicating a broad range of operational knowledge.
Lynnwood Mayor Christine Frizzell lauded Chief Langdon for his regional and statewide respect, highlighting the impact of his appointment. "Chief Langdon is well-respected in our local community, throughout the region and state," she stated, as reported by the City of Lynnwood. "He is a true public servant and his vision for community-based policing will be a huge asset to the WASPC Board helping to inform an environment of policing that will better address our current day challenges."
In a statement released by WASPC and obtained by the City of Lynnwood, Chief Langdon expressed his readiness for this new position. "It is an honor to be selected to serve on the WASPC Board," Langdon stated. "I am looking forward to working alongside a group of dedicated public safety professionals in advocating for this noble and important profession." This appointment signals a continued effort to bridge local and state law enforcement initiatives under Chief Langdon's expanding purview.
