The Malibu area and surrounding Los Angeles and Ventura counties felt the ground shake not once but twice in several hours. A 3.7 magnitude earthquake struck just before the stroke of midnight on Friday, according to NBC Los Angeles. Reports by residents of weak to light shaking were widespread, spanning areas from Malibu to Agoura Hills, Thousand Oaks, and into South Bay communities, Long Beach, and the San Fernando Valley.

Not long after, a second earthquake quickly followed to jolt the area again early Saturday morning. The U.S. Geological Survey confirmed a 3.5 magnitude tremor at approximately 6:30 a.m. "Saturday morning's quake had an epicenter 6.8 miles west-northwest of Malibu. Another earlier quake struck at 11:44 p.m. Friday,  with an epicenter 7.7 northwest of Malibu," as reported by CBS Los Angeles.

Both quakes were shallow, with the second earthquake occurring at a depth of 14.4 kilometers (about 8.7 miles), as per KTLA. Fortunately, amidst the early morning rumbles and the late-night jolts, there were no immediate reports of either damage or injuries.
