Man Fatally Shot in Central Las Vegas, Police Detain Person of Interest

A fatal shooting occurred last night in the central Las Vegas valley, leading to the death of a man. The incident was reported near the intersection of Maryland Parkway and Desert Inn Road. According to 8 News Now, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police received several reports of gunfire around 9:30 p.m. and upon their arrival at the 1000 block of Dumont Boulevard, a man was found with gunshot wounds.

Emergency response teams promptly transported the victim to a local hospital, where, he was later declared deceased. FOX5 reported that police have detained a "person of interest" in connection with the shooting and they do not currently seek any other suspects.

The area of Dumont Boulevard was temporarily closed from Maryland Parkway to Cambridge Street as the investigation proceeded. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police are leading the inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the shooting incident. The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin, and the, motive behind the shooting remains unclear at this time.
