The Massachusetts State Police and the Boston Police Department are joining forces to mark Missing Persons Day, an event designed to assist families in the search for their missing relatives. Scheduled for March 1, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the gathering aims to bring attention to unresolved missing person cases and provide a necessary platform for families seeking support and resources.
Hosted at the Salesian Boys & Girls Club, located at 150 Byron St in Boston, the event is set to engage the Massachusetts State Police Unresolved Case Unit and the Boston Police Unsolved Homicide Unit. Everyone with a missing loved one who has been gone for over 60 days is encouraged to attend. Recognizing the challenging journey these families face, law enforcement will be available to take new reports and update existing missing person cases. Furthermore, according to the event details published by the Boston Police Department, advocacy groups will also be present to offer their support and knowledge to attendees.
One key aspect of the event is the live collection of DNA from family members, which is not mandated, but advised for making potential future connections with unidentified remains. Missing persons cases will be directly entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs), and participants are asked to bring photographs along with any medical or dental records they have of their loved ones to aid in identification.
For those who may not be able to attend, or prefer to prepare information in advance, a QR code has been made available for pre-event submissions. The Massachusetts State Police Unresolved Case Unit can be reached for further inquiries at 855-627-6583 or via email at [email protected]. The Boston Police Unsolved Homicide Unit is also available at 617-343-4470.
