Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is investigating Ryan Thompson, owner of Fallen Timbers, for allegedly selling dogs with false veterinary records. The investigation follows a complaint from a customer who bought a boxer for $1,500 and later found the puppy had health issues, despite being sold with a "health guarantee," according to the Michigan Department of Attorney General.

A complaint states that a puppy’s health record from Hillcrest Veterinary Clinic was falsified. The puppy showed signs of a respiratory infection and tested positive for coccidiosis, giardia, and cryptosporidiosis. A similar case in 2022 involved an English bulldog with a congenital defect and false records attributed to Fieldstone Veterinary Care. It is also alleged that Fieldstone records were forged in at least one other instance, as reported by the Michigan Department of Attorney General.

Michigan Attorney General Nessel warned about increasing puppy scams and advised buyers to research breeders, meet in person, and keep all documents. She reissued a consumer alert with tips to avoid fraud and continues investigating deceptive pet adoption practices. Consumers with concerns about Thompson or Fallen Timbers should contact the Consumer Protection Team. Complaint details are available through the Michigan Department of Attorney General’s office.
