Drivers in Michigan have been facing a slight uptick at the gas pump. The state's average gas price increased by 7 cents compared to last week. The current average price for regular unleaded gas is $3.10 per gallon, showing inflation despite being cheaper than last year by 12 cents.

This steady climb is echoed in Metro Detroit, where the average is slightly higher at $3.15 per gallon, as noted by WXYZ. Despite the increase, prices still represent a 6-cent decrease compared to the same period in the previous year. These numbers reflect current demands and production rather than a long-term trend, as reported by AAA spokesperson Adrienne Woodland, who said, "Motorists across Michigan are seeing higher prices at the pump compared to this time last week."

While Michigan drivers may feel the pinch, some areas within the state see more favorable prices. According to AAA's findings, the most affordable gas can be found in Marquette at $3.03 per gallon, followed closely by Traverse City at $3.04 and Benton Harbor at $3.05. Conversely, AAA points out that the most expensive averages linger in Metro Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Jackson, ranging from $3.08 to $3.15 per gallon.

Across the border in Wisconsin, gas prices also increased, with the state average rising 4 cents to reach $2.92 per gallon. Green Bay specifically observed a 3-cent jump to $2.89, FOX 11 Online reports. Nationally, the average took a hike of 4.8 cents over the last week, sitting at $3.09/g. Patrick De Haan of GasBuddy provided context on the overall market, stating, "While some states have seen gas prices inching up, much of the country continues to see mostly stable prices. States that experience price cycling have seen increases, while many others have only experienced minor fluctuations."
