Last Friday, the Midlothian Police Department celebrated its finest at the Midlothian Conference Center. According to a social media post by the department, the 2024-25 Annual Awards Dinner on January 31st recognized a group of exemplary officers and staff for their service and contributions over the past year. Among the honored, Corporal Taylor Boler was named Officer of the Year, and Crisis Intervention Corporal Robert Newberry received the Supervisor of the Year accolade.
Making the night special, the Command Staff both served dinner and selected the award recipients, relying on a process fueled by peer and supervisor nominations. Jalapeños Lemon Pepper - Midlothian catered the event, serving up what was described as a "delicious dinner." As they celebrated the careers of the MPD's 2024 retirees, the police department also took the opportunity to give the nod to others in a series of awards. The Heather Phares Award went to Officer Angelica Garcia; Jennifer Willborn was declared the Telecommunicator of the Year, and Emergency Manager Tonya Hunter took home Civilian of the Year.
The Midlothian Police Department extended gratitude to sponsors for their support of this event. A diverse array of local businesses, from eateries to retail shops, contributed to the evening's proceedings, indicating broad community support for the police department. Notable supporters included the Midlothian Police Officers Association, MPD Wives, and locally beloved outlets like Ale's Kitchen, Apricot Lane Boutique, and Chicken Salad Chick.
