Milton is launching a digital "Wildlife 101" series, offering a webinar to teach residents and nature enthusiasts about local wildlife from the comfort of their own homes. Led by Ranger Jen Young, the Outdoor Recreation Supervisor, the webinars will cover a variety of wildlife topics with input from experts across the state. Topics will include the ecology of snakes, bird habitats, and how to identify different types of snakes, as reported by the City of Milton's official news release.
The first webinar, scheduled for February 25, will focus on how to handle injured or orphaned animals. Heather Thomas, Executive Director, and Tiffany Greene, Assistant Director of the Georgia Wildlife Network, will guide the discussion. They will also share information about their non-profit and how people can support their efforts.
According to the City of Milton, the "Injured and Orphaned Wildlife 911" webinar will take place from 6-7:30 p.m. Participants can register in advance using the provided link. Future webinars will explore other nature-related topics, and residents can submit suggestions to Ranger Jen at [email protected]. In addition to the webinars, Milton offers various outdoor programs such as Junior Rangers, Scout projects, and fishing classes.
