In a recent turn of events, the Alameda County Sheriff announced that Robert Contreras, a 38-year-old white male previously reported missing, has been located. The update, published on the Sheriff's official social media page, comes after the office urgently called on the community for aid in finding Contreras, who was last seen in Castro Valley on June 28. The brief message from the Sheriff's office, posted yesterday, simply states, "ROBERT CONTRERAS HAS BEEN LOCATED."

The announcement follows an intense search by the Sheriff's Office, which had earlier outlined Contreras's physical attributes and possible locations where he might be found. Described as standing 6' 3" tall and weighing approximately 150 pounds with brown eyes and a bald or buzz-cut hairstyle, the urgency to locate him was heightened because Contreras lacked a cell phone and was not accustomed to using public transportation. The details of his discovery have not yet been released.
Upon the initial report of his disappearance, the Alameda County Sheriff's Office had expressed serious concerns for Contreras's safety. Information released to Hoodline included potential areas where Contreras could have turned up, such as the Greenhouse Marketplace in San Leandro and other parts of the Hayward/Castro Valley area. The Sheriff's Office had hoped that tips from the public would assist in their efforts to return him to his home safely.
With the search ending, the Sheriff's Office appears to have made good on its commitment to Contreras's case, although the community's exact role in his location remains unclear. The initial call to action had been a somber one—in words obtained by Hoodline, the Sheriff had stated, "We are all concerned about Robert's safety and ask for your help bringing him home."
