Early this morning, Maryland State Police were called to the scene of a serious multi-vehicle accident on southbound Interstate 95 near Arbutus, Maryland. Details from the official report indicate that the crash happened around 2:50 a.m. and involved a collision between a 2008 Mercury Mountaineer and a 2004 tractor-trailer, followed by a subsequent crash involving a 2016 Toyota Corolla.

The drivers involved were identified as Persia Samina Ransford of Takoma Park, Maryland, who was driving the Mercury, and Asmaeil Faraj Abusharia from Sewaren, New Jersey, who was operating the tractor-trailer. Luis Del Cid of Middle River, Maryland, drove the Toyota Corolla. Ransford and Del Cid were both transported to Shock Trauma in Baltimore to receive treatment for their injuries.

According to the Maryland State Police, no other injuries were reported. The state police are now determining if impairment may have partly contributed to the collision.
