The Oakland Fire Department managed a significant warehouse blaze this past week, according to posts on their official social media channels. Crews were dispatched to the 4000 block of San Leandro Street, where they encountered the inferno at the intersection of 40th and San Leandro St inside a property located at 1000 40th Ave. The fire, which drew a 2nd alarm response, was attacked with a defensive strategy as firefighters took positions outside the building to combat the flames with hose lines and ladder pipes.
The fire teams' efforts were effective, as they could extinguish the fire quickly. Although crews continued working, overhauling the warehouse's interior and dealing with hotspots, the incident was declared "Under Control" at 11:25 p.m. on the day of the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and no injuries have been reported.
During the firefighting operations, traffic was halted between High Street and 40th Avenue, as detailed by the Oakland Fire Department.
