The Ohio Air Quality Development Authority (OAQDA) has recently given the green light to nearly $10 million in bond financing for projects focused on air quality improvements in Hamilton County, Ohio. The initiative, announced this past week, supports two projects under the Clean Air Improvement Program (CAIP), with the dual aim of boosting the local economy and enhancing air cleanliness.
As reported by OAQDA, Citadel Beechmont, LLC is set to receive up to $7.25 million to develop a new multipurpose site, including warehouse and office space, at 3674 Beechmont Court. The building aims to reduce energy usage by 57.5 percent, thanks to features like a 27.9 kW-DC solar panel array and eco-friendly HVAC and LED lighting systems. On another front, Ocean, LLC has been granted up to $2.2 million to fund the expansion of Megen Construction Company, Inc. This project encompasses installing a 54.3 kW rooftop solar setup and incorporating high-efficiency HVAC and LED lighting that goes beyond the energy code prerequisites.
Together, these endeavors are projected to result in significant economic benefits, including creating or maintaining over 50 jobs locally and additional construction employment opportunities. At the same time, the energy produced from rooftop solar systems is expected to amount to over 110,000 kWh every year. The anticipated sales tax benefits from both ventures combined could approach nearly $300,000.
Christina O'Keeffe, executive director of OAQDA, underscored the agency's role in fostering community and public health progress by stating through the Ohio Air Quality Development Authority, "These projects reflect OAQDA's ongoing commitment to supporting businesses in their efforts to grow and expand operations, serving local economic development and public health needs." O'Keeffe also acknowledged the collaborative efforts with the City of Cincinnati and other local entities to propel these projects forward.
Since its establishment in 1970, the OAQDA has endeavored to promote air quality by aiding businesses and enhancing communities in Ohio, additionally contributing to the well-being and safety of its residents. With more than $6 billion awarded towards air quality initiatives, the Authority continues to play a central role in assisting Ohio's businesses and local governments to embrace cleaner technologies and processes that benefit the state’s air quality and citizens.
