Commuters in Detroit faced unexpected delays this morning as an overturned semi shut down the Lodge Freeway at M-39. The incident, which occurred around 9 a.m., prompted the closure of the freeway and the ramp from Evergreen to the Lodge.
While the authorities have yet to report any injuries, the accident's impact was significant enough to abruptly halt traffic, with drivers being urged to find alternative routes. In a statement reported by ClickOnDetroit, cleanup operations were projected to extend well into the day, possibly complicating the allocation of resources for the ongoing traffic diversions and containment efforts.
State officials reported a separate crash earlier today on eastbound Interstate 96 near Interstate 275 compounded the overturned truck situation and resulted in a closure. This has led to an even more congested traffic state in the area. The Detroit News included an update that motorists needed further action, with recommendations to find alternate routes to avoid the affected freeway sections preemptively.
