
Thousand Oaks law enforcement recently took a man into custody following a reported kidnapping incident. According to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, on February 15th, a domestic disturbance escalated into an alarming situation that incited an immediate investigation by the local authorities.
The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Oswaldo Gomez of Oxnard, was accused of forcing a woman to remain in a vehicle against her will. Witnesses recounted the distressing scene where the female passenger was pleading for the male driver to release her, while the vehicle in question sustained considerable damage from colliding with the pole as it fled the scene.
Thousand Oaks Patrol Deputies had initially responded to the scene after receiving calls about the disturbance. In the ensuing investigation, they rapidly identified both the adult female victim and the suspect, Mr. Gomez. Following up on the incident, detectives were able to locate and ensure the well-being of the woman involved. Last Thursday, Gomez was located and arrested in Oxnard on charges related to the episode.
Gomez is now facing multiple charges, including one count each of PC 207(a) – Kidnapping, PC 236 - False imprisonment by violence, and PC 243(e)(1) – Domestic battery. After his arrest, he was booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility with a bail set at $300,000. His court appearance on February 24th led to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office filing official charges against him for the aforementioned crimes.
In response to such incidents, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office has extended an alert, urging the community to maintain vigilance. They encourage the reporting of any suspicious activities to Sheriff's Dispatch at (805) 654-9511. Furthermore, Ventura County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and criminal complaint against those responsible for the crime while allowing the informant to remain anonymous.
